The underwater world is my stage

Meeresschnitt was founded by me, Daniel Kainz, in 2025. As an underwater camera operator, I have already accumulated credits in film and advertising – and my passion for the underwater world has never left me.

With Meeresschnitt I want to pass on this knowledge: in small, intensive groups, at real dive sites, with real equipment. No mass courses, no compromises.

For the future I plan to bring marine biologists on board to further strengthen the conservation aspect of the courses and content.

Professional Background

Focus Puller & UW Operator

For nearly seven years I have been working as a Focus Puller / 1st AC in Vienna, supporting series, feature film and commercial productions. My time as 1st AC on the Hamburg series Großstadtrevier (ARD) shaped me greatly before I returned to Vienna in 2021.

I am experienced with high-end camera systems such as ARRI, Sony and RED as well as complex technical setups. As an underwater camera operator I plan UW shoots together with the director and DoP – from technical preparation and safety to coordination with the topside team.
